T-shirt into Nightgown

I love recycling t-shirts.  I always feel so guilty when I toss a t-shirt out just because I am sick of wearing it (of course, I am not implying that anyone else should feel guilty for this).  If the fabric isn't worn, I try to think of a way to use the fabric before I say goodbye.  Seriously, fabric can be sooo expensive these days (especially when you are married to a student)!  I have made 4 t-shirt nightgowns in the last few years and  my daughter loves how light weight they are for AZ summers.

The best t-shirts that I've had success with are size S or XS.  They require minimal seam/sleeve adjustments (I just sew in an inch or two over the previous seam).  And, I can always keep the hem, and collar.

Now, these were not made to look "pretty."  They are just made for practical purposes.  My daughter can be picky though, so a few of them I have added embellishments to this shirt (the rhinestones and the lace on the bottom).  I tell myself, why spend money on clothes that no one is going to see?  And, let's be honest, I love any excuse to craft!
