avoiding criticism in relationships
I get really uncomfortable when I hear people talk badly about their spouses or complain about them. I feel like those conversations can be really awkward. So unless you are suffering from an seriously abusive relationship it is probably best to avoid talking negatively about your spouse (but if you really are stuck in an abusive situation please, please, please talk to someone about it. Because people can help you get out of those situations. Google an abuse hotline number and Get help!)
At my wedding shower, all the guests wrote down a little piece of advice for me. The best advice I received and probably one of the only things I remember from that experience was to not talk badly about your spouse. Since that day I have heard that said over the pulpit in church, in general conference, read it in books, etc. It has been something that I have worked hard to do.
And tell your family today how much you love and appreciate them!
Sidenote: I made these love letter blocks for valentine's day. They were super easy to make. sawed a piece of 2 x6 board into random sized squares. Sanded and spray painted the blocks. Printed out letters from the computer onto scrapbook paper using various fonts. Inked the edges with a stamp pad, glued them on, then covered with modge-podge.

Someone sent me this article to read that talks all about avoiding criticism in relationships. It shares reasons why criticism is not good and suggestions on better, more productive ways to improve communication without criticism. We could all use some reminders to share the love.

Amen! I couldn't agree with you more. Its so nice to feel like you are on the same team as your spouse, and to know that your hopes, fears, secrets, and love are safe with them. Loved your post.
