Nanowrimo here we go!
This is my first attempt at competing in Nanowrimo (in honor of National Writing Month). I am getting so stoked for a month of writing! 50,000 words doesn't scare me like it once did, but the time frame does make me a little nervous. One whole month of feverish typing, and reasons to justify spending all my free time with one of my stories. Oh yeah, we will be tight after this. Tight, as in concise, fresh, and finished... at least as far as first drafts go. Bring it on, baby!
Fears:
1. Neglecting my children. I never feel like I have enough for all of their needs as it is. I also experience major guilt when I take time for myself during the day.
2. Neglecting my house (I can do clutter only to a point).
3. Neglecting my diet. Oh, what? I have a diet? Okay, not exactly. But, I am pretty sure my dinners are going to be sub-par for awhile. Sorry, hubby! Grilled cheese anyone?
4. Neglecting holiday preparations. I like to have my Christmas wrapped up well before Christmas actually comes. Procrastination equals stress in my book, and stress is avoided at all costs. I have several photo books that I am making for my kids and those require TIME.
5. Neglecting whatever else in my life that I already have tuned out because all I can think about it WRITING!!!
Goals:
1. Finish a story I started last year.
2. Write 50,000 words... obviously... but spelling it out just makes me feel committed.
3. Manage writing and my family with as little stress as possible.
4. Learn discipline
5. Keep it light. Don't over-think. And win!
