General Conference Kid Prep
General Conference is one of my favorite times of the year. I love how much peace and comfort I receive from the speakers, no matter what stage of life I am in. I also love that it is a weekend that revolves around family time. I just love everything about it.
Listen to General Conference here!
I wanted to share some of my general conference prep. I wish I could say that my children are always perfect angels, and I never miss a word from any speaker. But, us mothers know that a little preparation before conference makes a world of difference when it comes to how much you are going to get out of the speakers. I wrote down the list that of ideas that I use. Then, assigned each "busy activity" to a specific session. Gotta spread out all that joy!!!
Here are so of the things my kids will be doing:
-Conference Packets. I love printing out my conference packets. I can't wait for my kids to enjoy them. I printed from two sites: www.sugardoodle.net where I found paper dolls, and a page to color the apostles & prophet's tie. I loved www.lds.org and their coloring pages that they had under "conference is for you."
-I printed several bingo sheets last year, and put them in a plastic sheet so that I could reuse them every year. I use marbles, so we will be playing this in the afternoon when baby sleeps.
-I also have pictures of the Prophet and Apostles that the kids can clothespin to the close-line as they get up to speak.
-We like to play the word game. If the kids hear a certain word: family, temple, prayer, scripture etc. then they get a chocolate chip or mini marshmallow. We usually play it in the morning session, and then bingo in the afternoon.
-Tales of Glory figurines (we have some of the Old and New Testament characters). My kids love them (thanks Grandma!).
-Flannel board stories, as well as my flannel car mat.
-I came up with a go to list, when they get through my activities before I am ready to quit listening =). Examples: books, puzzles, puppets, bake.
