Book Recommendation

Meet Charlotte Brotte, authoress from the mid 1800's.

Both Shawna and I recently read Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brotte.  It was long, but definitely worth reading!  I enjoyed it so much, that I want to own it for my own collection.  My concern with reading the book was that I already knew the story line from one of the movies, and it was a little dark for my taste.  Is the book dark?  In my opinion, it does explore a lot of depressing circumstances; however, it also discusses how holding to God, and what God wants us to be, allows us to rise above any situation.  There was so much detail and description, which the classics are famous for.  The romance was so beautiful, that I found myself appreciating the idea of loving others for their uniqueness in character, and spirit.  I found the language charming, and have now set a goal to broaden my vocabulary.  -Maybe a little ambitious, but it can only help me with my writing!

If you like Jane Austen, then you will definitely appreciate this story.  Charlotte Brotte wrote Jane Eyre in just six weeks (from what the historians say), and she did an incredible job.  I enjoyed researching a little about Charlotte too, and learned that many of the aspects of her book are based on her life.  Knowing that makes the story all the more significant.  I thought there were many points in the book that were inspiring, and made me want to be a better person.

Happy Reading!
